Michael Fuhlrott graduated from the University of Göttingen where he also worked as legal assistant at the chair for social security law. Upon the completion of his studies he worked as a research assistant at the chair for labour law at the University of Bonn where he also completed his PhD on employee liability. Dr. Fuhlrott completed his traineeship with a special focus on labour law in Hamburg, Bonn and Speyer. In 2008, he joined the labour law department of a prestigious and internationally recognized law firm in Hamburg and qualified as a Certified Specialist in Labour Law (Fachanwalt für Arbeitsrecht) in 2011. In the same year, he started lecturing at the Hochschule Fresenius, University of Applied Sciences. In 2013, he was appointed Professor of Labour Law. He took time off from legal practice to focus on his academic work. The following year, he received an appointment as Professor of Labour Law at the Hochschule Fresenius in Hamburg where he also heads the department for Economic Law and acts as the academic dean for the study programmes “Economic Law” and “Human Resources Management”. At that point, he also resumed his work as a practitioner in the field of labour law and was named head of the labour law department as well as partner of a nationwide firm. Dr. Fuhlrott was called on as an examiner for the 2. state exam and teaches future certified specialists in labour law as well as HR managers. He is the author of more than 500 academic papers in the field of labour law.

Internal investigations often lead to findings that require actions with consequences under employment law. In addition to the short deadlines for terminations in employment law, we examine and assert claims for damages on your behalf and, in cooperation with our white-collar criminal lawyers, ensure in particular that the evidence obtained during the internal investigation can later be used in court. We also ensure close cooperation with external partners such as experts and business detective agencies. Of course, we also coordinate any accompanying steps under criminal law, such as the filing of criminal charges or the involvement of investigating authorities.

Questions of (employee) data protection have increased massively in recent years. Due to new legal regulations, companies are threatened with high liability risks and new fields of action are opening up in which employers should become active. Labour law does not apply directly, although the employment contract situation regularly has parallels to labour law. In addition, there are for example special remuneration models which are often based on the success of the company or include Employee Share Programs.
